 Music Course

Suzuki Violin Course (For age 4 years & above)

The Suzuki approach differs from traditional methods of teaching instrumental music as it involves grooming the child at a very young age. Your child will learn more than how to play an instrument. Based on the "mother tongue" method, the course seeks to develop your child fully, unfolding his or her natural potential to learn. Taught by experienced and qualified teachers, our systematic & progressive syllabus, provide the opportunity to participate in master classes, workshops and concerts ensuring a sound foundation in music.

The Suzuki Method

The teaching method developed by Dr Shinichi Suzuki is based on a single idea which he refers to as Mother Tongue. Dr Suzuki observed that all children learn to speak their own language (mother tongues) with great fluency, complete with local inflections. As children are surrounded by language sounds from birth, he reasoned that if children are surrounded by music, they would develop an equally remarkable ability in that field. This is, in essence, the concept of Mother Tongue.

Implications of the Mother Tongue concept:

1. Environment educates children

2. Rate of progress is dictated by the child

3. Ability breeds ability

4. Pleasant environment yields higher standards and greater ability

Suzuki Group of Courses

The Suzuki Method is neither static nor finite. Its philosophy applies to the education of all children, regardless of which instrument is used as a tool. The teaching philosophies of the Mother-Tongue principle, i.e. the early start, the environment, etc, must be kept in mind, with whichever instrument the child is given.

Through the Suzuki growing process, children have learnt to thrive in a completely supportive environment. They develop confidence, self-esteem, determination and concentration, complemented by a lasting appreciation of music, through the skill and understanding of its creation.

To date, the Suzuki Method has been adapted to the following instruments:

Bass Piano
Cello Recorder
Flute Viola
Guitar Violin
Harp
